Solid Foundation

S. "But Esther had kept secret her family background and nationality just as Mordecai had told her to do, for she continued to follow Mordecai's instructions as she had done when he was bringing her up." (Esther 2: 20)

O. There was a simple truth that jumped off the page this morning as I read the story of Esther...the power of instruction and the faithful in obedience that follow! Mordecai had raised Esther under difficult circumstance. Her parents had died and he took upon himself the responsibility to teach her the truth of God. Isn't it wonderful when God orchestrates his plans for us. He needed Esther to have a solid foundation in her life and even in the midst of tragedy, God provides. Not only did Mordecai provide a solid spiritual foundation...but Esther was obedient to follow in faithfulness she has learned. It would have been easy for Esther to turn away from God. She was now in the king's favor and probably could have had anything she desired...but her desire was to obey Mordecai's instruction and remain faithful to God.

A. It is so easy in today's world to just move with the ebb and flow of society and situations we found ourselves in...but God is calling us to remain faithful to Him in everything. I just remember my first love...the Lord Jesus Christ and give my all to him everyday.

P. Lord, thank you for my upbringing and for the truth that was lived out in front of my as I was growing up. I pray that I will never lose that foundation and that I would be faithful to live my life in such a way that would honor that truth and glorify your name. Amen.
